I remember when I was a kid and I would order something. It wasn’t unusual to wait 4-6 weeks for the big brown truck to deliver that special package. One of the amazing things about modern ecommerce is that shipping times are measured in days, even hours. Retailers are exploring same-day delivery, and delivery straight from warehouses with robots and flying drones.
Don’t worry, Daily Steals isn’t building an army of robots to start knocking on your door (yet!). We do, however, know how important fast shipping times are to our customers. When you order something, you want it to arrive safely, and fast.
Our official ship time is 3-7 days. Our goal is always to ship products the day we receive your order, but that’s not always possible. We would much rather be conservative in our shipping estimates and ship early, rather than promise something we can’t deliver.
For those of you who don’t know, we’re located in Florida and our warehouse was affected by Hurricane Irma. Dealing with the storm’s aftermath has caused some shipping delays. Our entire team has worked very hard to get things back up and running as quickly as possible, and I’m proud of the results.
I’ve had a chance to communicate with a lot of you about delivery delays during this experience and I wanted to share some thoughts about why shipments can sometimes take longer than we would like, even without a hurricane.
We have a team of buyers who are always working to find our customers the deals we post every day. I’ll spare you the details, but we’re often competing with other buyers to get these deals. Often, we will score a big win to bring some amazing deal to you, and it goes out in our emailings minutes after it happens. (The marketing team just loves that!)
In these cases, we’re still moving product from the vendor’s warehouse into our own, and that can take a few days. Because we work on so many deals at one time, and there are lots of factors involved, it’s difficult to always know when something will be ready to ship. For some deals, the products are all boxed and ready to go same day. For others, we have to get it from across the country before to goes out to you.
This all affects the prices we can offer to you. Since our goal is always to find the absolute best price on top-quality products, we will sometimes ship products to our warehouse in different ways, which saves money. We pass that savings along to you. Our buyers are experts at getting our own best deals every step of the way. We do all of this so we can offer you the best deals possible. We love saving money and know that our customers do as well.
Along the way, lots of things can happen. A storm can delay shipment. Some vendor who promised us a truck yesterday, doesn’t send it until today. Some product sells far more than anticipated and we have to make sure all of those customers are happy. It’s a crazy and exciting ride, just to get those packages to your door.
And we love doing it.
We’re always looking to improve those shipping times. I know that everyone reading this is a savvy shopper, so I wanted to provide some insights on how we’re working to meet our promise to you. Please feel free to get in touch with me at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know how we’re doing. We’ll keep tracking down the best deals we can find and getting them to you as fast as possible. We may not have flying robots just yet, but we’re working on it.
